  1. But what happens when the novelty wears off? Making good choices because you’re being rewarded will only result in temporary improvement. Making good choices because you believe making good choices is a good thing changes lives.

    From a personal perspective, our eldest daughter has been complaining, recently, that she doesn’t want to go to school anymore because it isn’t fun. She’s become so thoroughly convinced that school is supposed to be fun that she doesn’t really value her education. It’s going to be a long slow battle to convince her that an education is worth getting even if it isn’t fun.
